A political pressure group in Delta State, the Concerned Ndokwa Easterners Political Forum, on Monday rejected the plot by the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party to foist an anointed candidate on Ndokwa East Local Government Area in the forthcoming council polls.
The state Independent Electoral Commission has fixed the council polls for October 25, this year.
The group registered displeasure over what it tagged “acute marginatlization” of other existing Wards in the council area by the leaders of the PDP.
A protest letter was made available to The Eagle Online in Asaba in this regard on Monday.
The President General of the group, Sir Nnamdi Chukwumah, and five others in a signed statement wondered why the six political appointees in Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration were picked from Ward 5.
They said the leaders have started plotting again to produce the council chairman from the same Ward.
According to the group, the leadership of the party at the state level should not allow “a great political injustice” to work out.
They said: “In this present dispensation, Ward 5 (Aboh) has the following political offices, Commissioner for Youth Development, Political Adviser to Governor Uduaghan (Delta North), Delta State House of Assembly Service Commissioner, the DESOPADEC Commissioner and the Communication Manager to the Governor are from the Ward, even as the present Transition Committee Chairman of the council area is from the Ward.”
He explained that with the above scenario, “it is clear that all appointments in Ndokwa East are domicile in Ward 5 (Aboh).”
The group urged the leaders of the party in the state to call leaders of Ward 5 to order and ask them to stop the conspiracy game currently being orchestrated for political gains “or else the other Wards in Ndokwa East will resist this evil political misadventure in our own way.”
