Delta leaders: Uduaghan is serving electorate well

Delta State leaders, under the aegis of the People’s Movement, on Thursday said that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is serving the electorate well and would not steal government funds or divert such funds into his private accounts.
Reacting to the petition by a group called the Movement for the Protection of the Rights of Deltans, the leaders said Uduaghan was committed to developing Delta State, stressing that the position of MPROD came as a shock to the good people of the state.
“This administration whose policies have extensively touched on the lives of Deltans deserves the loudest applause for its ingenuity, resilience, steadfastness and purposeful leadership,” the leaders said.
The leaders, in a statement by the Director of Communications of the People’s Movement, Ibifuro Tatua, challenged critics of the administration to objectively assess the performance of the governor.
“The administration’s programmes are felt in the three senatorial districts and that it has been five years of constructive development in the state,” the leaders said.
They also said only a blind would not see the total transformation of the state by the present administration.
They said: “ Uduaghan’s dedicated service is visible in the changing face of Delta State. There is no let up or slowing down in government’s programmes as the governor continues to pursue his three point agenda with vigour.”
The leaders described the comments on the administration by the group as wide off the mark and misconceived.
They said: “When we look at the scorecard of Uduaghan, what readily comes to mind is how he has performed.
“In five years, the government has given scholarship to thousands to enable them further their education in various schools within and outside the country.
“Delta is one of the few states where salaries are being paid as and when due.
“The traditional institution has received a boost and respect under the administration.
“Uduaghan has relentlessly pursued a vigorous policy for provision of social facilities and infrastructure.
“The state has a more motorable network of roads than it had five years ago.
“The government has arrested the drift in the education sector through provision of necessary learning aids, including books, laboratory equipment and computers.
“The massive schools rehabilitation programme has seen to the renovation of many schools in the rural and urban areas.
“Uduaghan has made modest development in terms of health sector delivery to the people.
“Delta State is wearing a positive look.”
They also said Uduaghan has elevated politics beyond the mundane levels of wrangling, greed and selfishness.
They added: “He distributes patronages and amenities on an equal and passionate basis.
“He knows that leadership goes with tolerance and patience and operates with the maxim that unease lies the head that wears the crown.”
They appealed to those generating rumours and spreading lies at home and abroad to join hands with Uduaghan in the onerous task of moving the state forward.
“With your continued support, understanding and cooperation, Uduaghan will firmly expand on the gains recorded so far. By May 30, 2015, Uduaghan shall leave behind worthy legacies that will put Delta State firmly on the irreversible path of meaningful growth and prosperity,” the leaders said.
