The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mike Omeri, has described the death of one of Nigeria’s foremost Hausa folklore musicians, Adamu Dan-Maraya, as a great loss to the country.
Omeri said Dan-Maraya would be remembered for being a pillar of peace and unity in Nigeria.
Omeri said this while reacting to the news of late Dan-Maraya, who hailed from Plateau State and died in Jos at the age of 83.
Omeri stated further that late folklore singer enjoyed “overwhelming lovers of hi genre of music”, which he said cut across ‘ethno-religious’ divides of Nigeria.
The DG NOA also remembered the role played by the late singer as “NOA Ambassador” for peace in Nigeria, adding that the Agency relied of “figures” like him to promote peace and unity in the country.
“The news of the of Dan Maraya Jos came as a shock. His music helps unites Nigerians. And also, NOA will miss him more for being our Peace Ambassador,” Omeri stressed.
