CVR: INEC to begin rotational exercise in wards to capture more voters in Kaduna

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday announced the extension of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise to selected wards across the 23 LGs in Kaduna State.
This is contained in a statement signed by Nick Dazang, INEC’s Administrative Secretary for Kaduna State and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna.
The commission aims to take the exercise to rural areas to capture more grassroots voters within good time ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The statement said: “INEC, Kaduna State wishes to inform various stakeholders and the general public to register as many eligible registrants as possible.
“It is to further rotate the conduct of Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which started on April 27, 2017, at local government levels to the ward/Registration Area levels.”
According to the statement, the rotational CVR exercise, which is the second batch, would be conducted in two selected wards/ Registration Areas across the 23 LGs in the state.
The statement said the first phase of the second batch of the exercise would be conducted from May 21 to Friday May 25.
It said that the second phase would begin from May 28 to June 1, in some other selected wards/Registration Areas also across the 23 LGs in the state.
It said: “However, it should be noted that, this arrangement, does not in any way affect the on-going Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the 23 INEC Local Government area offices in the state.
“This implies that the two exercises will go on simultaneously with that of the Ward /Area Rotational Registration Exercise.”
The commission urged eligible voters yet to register to take advantage of the exercise and register.
