Major ongoing construction at the Banana Island, the Parkview Estate extension in Ikoyi, Lagos State, is reported to have been halted by the Federal Government, which just imposed certificate of occupancy levy on all the major landed property inside the expensive estate.
The Onikoyi family, who are the property owner, are not finding things easy at the moment.
A member of the family, who craved anonymity, said it is disheartening for the Federal Government to have done that because most of the major land in the estate already have Lagos State C of O.
The family member said: “So why would the Federal Government wake up one day and impose such levy on us?
“I mean its uncalled for.”
A land owner, who just acquired it, also expressed his displeasure over the Federal Government’s move.
In his words: “We the property owners in the estate are at the receiving end because we have to get the Federal Government’s C of O.
“This is after getting the Lagos State Government’s C of O if we don’t want to lose our properties.”
