A High Court in Kaduna State on Wednesday ordered that two men be remanded in correctional centre for the alleged abduction of a trader.
The police charged Abdulazeez Shehu, 35, and Haruna Liman, 32, with conspiracy and kidnapping.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Darius Khobo, who gave the order, adjourned the matter until March 24 when the case would come up for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Usman Hassan, told the court that the defendants, armed with a locally-made pistol, kidnapped Garba Baba on January 11 at about 8pm in Kachia, Kaduna State.
He said the defendants and others, at large, pushed the victim into their car and took him to their hideout with the aim of asking for ransom.
The offence, Hassan said, contravened the provisions of sections 59 and 247 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
