Court jails man four years for stealing property

A Badagry Magistrates’ Court, Friday, sentenced a 25-year-old man, Moshood Ibrahim, to four years imprisonment for stealing property worth N227,000.

The Magistrate, T.A. Popoola, sentenced Ibrahim, following his guilty plea and the facts of the case.

The Magistrate said he would not have mercy on the convict because he had sentenced him to one-month imprisonment for the same offence some times ago.

Popoola sentenced him to two years each on two counts of unlawful entry and stealing, adding that they would run consecutively.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the convict committed the offences on June 16, at about 2.00.a.m., at Badagry Roundabout in Badagry, Lagos State.

Adeosun said that the convict entered the shop of one Adetayo Adekola, the complainant, with the intent to commit a felony.

He said that the convict stole the sum of N165,000, one Itel S18 phone valued at N54, 000 and a gold wristwatch valued at N8,000.

The prosecutor said that the total value of the property stolen was N227,000.

He held that the offences contravened Sections 308 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos.
