The Chairman of Community Newspaper Publishers Association of Nigeria (CONPAN), Prince Valentine Adese, has called for partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) members in Plateau State to drum support for President Goodluck Jonathan.
The chairman disclosed this in Jos on Monday during a press conference held at its Secretariat.
He promised that the people of Plateau State and Nigerians in general have been assured of enhanced media coverage.
According to him, “The mission of CONPAN is to advance Nigeria through grass roots reporting, publicity and entertainment, explaining that the platform is to export our news and create awareness amongst the populace.”
He said Plateau State has emphasized severally that the state is under reported, saying it is the gap that CONPAN is now readily prepared to fill.
“We wish to state that the days of rumour mills would soon be over as CONPAN members are duly bound to bring the facts to the grass roots,” the text of the press conference read in parts.
He further said that owing to its national recognition by the Federal Government, the Nigerian Union of Journalists and Publishers in Plateau State are encouraged to get registered in order to enjoy the advantages open to members.
“With the coming of the CONPAN, local publishers will now have equal recognition anywhere in the country,” he added.
