Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama may have pulled out fromSaturday’s Nations Cup qualifier against the Red Devils of Congo, if the feelers reaching The EagleOnline is anything to go by.
The goal tender, opted to stay back with his club in France as a measure to avoid contacting the deadline Eboba virus while in the country.
It was also learnt that some of the Europe based players have been warned by their various club sides not to honour the national call until the virus is taken care of.
In Enyeama’s absence, the Super Eagles will be left with Israeli-based, Austin Ejide and Gombe United’s Chigozie Agbim in goal against the Congolese.
The team’s media officer, Ben Alaiya denied the development, saying the Lille of France first choice goalkeeper is yet to notify any of the national team officials about his withdrawal from the Congo game.
Alaiya however informed that Rizespor of Turkey defender, Godfrey Oboabona led five home-based players to Calabar, informing that more players are being expected to arrive the camp.
The players in camp, according to Alaiya are; Sunshine Stars’ Kunle Odunlami, Chigozie Agbim (Gombe United), Osagona Ighadaro (Enugu Rangers) and Warri Wolves duo of Azubuike Egwuekwe and Gbolaham Salami.
The team will begin training on Tuesday under the watchful eyes of Coach Stephen Keshi and his technical crew at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar
