The Chief Justice of Ondo State, Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi, has set up a panel to consider the move to impeach the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Alli Olanusi.
The setting up of the seven-man panel by Kumuyi was at the instance of the Ondo State House of Assembly, which directed him to do so.
The panel, headed by Olatunji Stanley Adeniyan, is to look into the allegations of gross misconduct levelled against Olanusi by the House.
Kumuyi, in a letter dated April 23, 2015, said: “In line with the provision of section 188(5) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I have set up a seven man panel to investigate the allegations against the Deputy Governor as required by the constitution.”
Members of the panel include Aladesanmi Akingbade, Barrister Ademola Ekundayo, Ven. Richard Obafemi, Abraham Kola Mathew, Alhaji Ibrahim Shodeinde and Eunice Yinka Obadele.
The panel has since been inaugurated.
The lawmakers want Olanusi to be probed for gross misconduct, financial misappropriation, absenteeism from official duties and allegedly causing political disaffection in the cabinet of the state government.
The impeachment notice was signed by 20 of the 26 lawmakers of the Assembly.
