The Management of Capital City University, Kano, has been granted full accreditation to seven of the university’s academic programmes, while one programme received Interim accreditation.
This was made public in a statement by the Registrar of the university, Hajiya Rakiya Bello Dandago.
According to the statement, the accreditation was granted by the National Universities Commission following its October/November 2024 accreditation exercise.
It said this significant achievement reflects the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, robust infrastructure, and a clear institutional vision.
The official confirmation is contained in letter NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/387, dated April 30,2025, and signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu.
The following programmes received Full Accreditation: Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D), Biotechnology, Forensic Science and Digital Entrepreneurship. Mathematics received Interim Accreditation.
The statement read in part, “This milestone not only validates the academic quality of these programmes but also highlights the dedication and hard work of the university’s faculty, staff, and students. It reinforces Capital City University’s emerging reputation as a hub for innovation and forward-looking education.
“The Governing Council has reaffirmed its commitment to building on this success by enhancing academic standards across all faculties. In alignment with this goal, the Council has approved the development of frameworks to introduce postgraduate programmes in the newly accredited disciplines. The Council emphasized that postgraduate education is central to the university’s long-term vision of becoming a centre of excellence in research, innovation, and advanced scholarship.”

Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yusuf Bala Daraja, expressed deep appreciation for the commitment and hard work of all staff and students:

I particularly salute the dedication, resilience, and collective effort of our academic and non-academic staff, as well as our students, whose contributions were central to this success. These accredited programmes are skills-driven, and this recognition by the NUC affirms our commitment to delivering quality, relevant education.”
