Buhari committed to safe return of Chibok girls – PSF

A leading socio-political organization in the country, the Progressives Solidarity Forum, has asserted that President Muhammadu Buhari is irrevocably committed towards the safe return of the Chibok girls.
As a man of integrity whose words and promises can be taken seriously, the group said Buhari will do all within his power to bring smiles to the faces of the parents of the abducted schoolgirls.
The PSF was reacting to some insinuations making the round that President Buhari is not committed to the cause as promised.
A former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, had through her Twitter handle accused the President of not showing enough commitment during his meeting with the parents and the BBOG movement.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media, Publicity and Information of the PSF, Osun State chapter, Comrade Abdulateef Usman Abiodun, they argued that it was out of place for anyone to insinuate that the President has not showed enough commitment to the bloody acts of terrorism by Boko Haram.
The statement said: “It was out of care that Mr. President granted audience to the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement in Aso Rock on the 15th of January, 2016 as led by the former minister of education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili to brainstorm and share ideas with the group as a stakeholder in the struggle for the return of the girls.
“President Buhari could not have stormed out of his meeting with the Chibok parents, stakeholders and the BBOG as reported in some local dailies.
“President Buhari was called to speak at a meeting he did not start and had to leave so that the meeting would continue.
“PSF challenges the federal government to prioritise the safe return of the girls by intensifying fire on the Boko Haram terrorists or true genuine negotiations with any faction of the group the can facilitate the release of the Chibok girls within a defined period.”
The forum applauded the President for inviting foreign leaders to the meeting.
The group said: “We commend the President for allowing a foreign leader to attend the meeting. We salute him for the respect he accorded to the parents and the BBOG, which is undoubtedly Africa’s best known social action movement.”
