The Senate on Thursday confirmed Dr. Kingsley Isitua Obiora as a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The Senate decision was sequel to presentation of the report of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions chaired by Senator Uba Sani.
Speaking on the report, Uba said there was no petition against the nomination of Obiora as the Deputy Governor of the CBN and he is competent to handle the office.
Appearing before the Senate Panel for screening, Obiora pledged to contribute his quota to enabling the Bank achieve its mandate.
President Muhammadu Buhari had in a letter to the Senate on January 16, 2020 nominated Dr. Obiora as a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, noting that it was in accordance with the provision of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007.
