Breaking: Police confirm Adamu as Acting IGP

The Nigeria Police has confirmed the appointment of Mohammed Abubakar Adamu as Acting Inspector General of Police.
The confirmation was contained in a statement on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Office, Jimoh Moshood.
According to Moshood, the appointment of Adamu followed the retirement of Ibrahim Idris from the Force and the directive to the outgone IGP to hand over to Adamu by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Adamu had earlier in the day visited the Presidential Villa, where he met with the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
According to Moshood: Adamu hails from Lafia, Nasarawa State and is a holder of BSc. Geography.
He enlisted into the Force on February 1, 1986 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Moshood described Adamu as a versatile and seasoned Police Officer, a professional per excellence.
He has attended several Senior Officer Courses on Law Enforcement, Crime Prevention, Control and Management within and outside Nigeria.
Before his appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police, he was a Directing Staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.
He was Commissioner of Police in Ekiti and Enugu States and also Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 5 Police Command Headquarters, Benin, Edo State.
