Gunmen, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, on Monday morning stormed Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
Their first port of call was the Yobe State University located in Damaturu.
The attack, which was ongoing at the time of filing this report, has seen residents of the town scampering for safety.
One of the residents, who reached out to The Eagle Online via the telephone, said there was confusion in the town.
The resident spoke with shaky voice.
The resident said it was obvious the attackers were out to overrun and take over the capital city.
