A Kano State High Court has declared the appointment and installation of four new emirs by the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as null and void.
Justice Nasiru Saminu gave the ruling on Wednesday following a suit by the plaintiff, Hon. Sule Gwarzo, against the Governor and the state government for splitting the Kano Emirate into five.
It ordered a return to status quo pending the hearing of the suit against the appointment of the Emirs.
Kingmakers in the Kano Emirate had also filed a similar case on Tuesday.
The new Emirates are Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi.
While Aminu Ado Bayero, son of late emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, is the Emir of the newly established Bichi Emirate, the Emir of Gaya is Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya; Emir of Rano is Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila; and the Emir of Karaye is Dr. Ibrahim Abukakar ll.
The Emir of Kano remains Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.
