Chaos broke out in the early hours of Monday at the collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Owerri, Imo State, where the results of Saturday’s Governorship and State House of Assembly elections were being collated.
One of the agents of the parties at the centre, who could not be identified as at press time, snatched the elections results and was shredding it before others moved in his direction.
At that point, chairs started flying in different directions.
Though security agents stepped in, the situation did not abate, with most staff on the table for the results announcement fleeing.
The crew of Channels TV covering the election was also attacked at the collation centre.
They had to flee.
