The Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, on Sunday flew into London to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The meeting between Buhari and Akpabio is coming
ahead of the planned defection of the two-term governor of Akwa Ibom State to the All Progressives Congress.
Akpabio was elected as Governor twice and senator on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to the plan of the event, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will receive Akpabio into the APC at the Ikot Ekpene Stadium, Akwa Ibom State on August 8.
Buhari’s Head of Digital Communication, Tolu Ogunlesi, confirmed the meeting between the President and Akpabio in London on Sunday on his Tweeter handle.
Ogunlesi tweeted: “Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West District, and Senate Minority Leader, today in London met with PMB.”
