Members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram, are suspected to be behind the killing of Abdulrahaman, son of the former Permanent Secretary for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Yobe State, Alhaji Mustapha Sheriff.
Abdulrahaman, who was shot dead on Friday, had gone to the Maiduguri Cattle Market in Borno State at about 8:45am to purchase ram for the Sallah celebration when he was attacked.
Two gunmen, said to be operating in a tricycle, waylaid Abdulrahaman, fired several shots into his head and made away with his Sports Utility Vehicle.
The spokesman of the Joint Task Force in Borno State, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, confirmed the killing.
Musa, however, could not give details as he said he only heard that a motorist was shot in the head by armed men.
He promised to brief the media on the development.
