Despite the tension and low turn out of voters in the Bayelsa State rerun election held on Saturday, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and other units, there are indications that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Seriake Dickson, has taken an early lead going by the results trickling in.
There have also been report of widespread violence leading to the stoppage of elections in some polling units where election has been ordered in Ekeremor, Nembe and Ogbia Local Government Areas.
In polling units where elections were held in Yenegoa, the state capital, all went well with the PDP leading in results released at the various polling units.
Meanwhile, the PDP has claimed that there was no election in Ekeremor, where the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, was alleged to have diverted electoral materials and then called for the cancellation of any result sent in from the area.
As the time of this report, more results are still being expected.
