Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has returned to AC Milan on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy.
Bakayoko, 27, moved to Chelsea from Monaco in 2017 for £40 million, making him the club’s second most expensive signing at the time, after Fernando Torres.
The one-time France international went on to make 29 Premier League appearances in his first season in London, with the club finishing a disappointing fifth under Antonio Conte.
He failed to win a place in new manager Maurizio Sarri’s side, however, and spent the 2018-19 season on loan at the San Siro with Milan.
Bakayoko also spent the next two seasons on loan — with Monaco in France and Napoli in Italy respectively.
Bakayoko featured in Chelsea’s pre-season under Thomas Tuchel but has not featured in the Premier League this season, with N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic all preferred in central midfield.
