It was sheer amazement and a joyful mood on Sunday with the delivery of a baby girl born with a prayer Rosary (Tasabih) in her hands and wrapped around the neck at the point of delivery.
The incident, which occurred around 2pm at Kotuworo area of Bida, close to the home of Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Mansaba, the man with 86 wives, was said to have caused people trooping from all over the town in the bid to have a look at the miraculous baby born to Mrs. Adijat and Mallam Issa, who both hail from Lama, Kwara State.
It was gathered Adijat earlier in the day was in labour and was rushed to the home of a midwife, Abubakar Baiwa Shasha, where she was delivered of her baby girl.
However, when the baby was about to be delivered, the nurse, it was gathered, saw to her surprise a black rosary round the neck of the child that immediately turned white as soon as she was delivered.
It was learnt the midwife raised an alarm that caught the attention of people around and soon the news spread like wild fire as people around the ancient town arrived in their number to have a glimpse of the miraculous child, amidst the shout of, ‘ Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! (God is great! God is great!) with joy written all over their faces as they beheld the child in the arms of the mother.
Speaking, nurse Abubakar said when the baby was about to be delivered, she was surprised to see the rosary around the neck of the child and eventually, when she came out, the rosary turned white, adding, “I was really shocked when i saw the rosary.”
When contacted on the significance of such a birth, Mansaba, an Islamic scholar, told journalists that the delivery of the child with the rosary simply shows the greatness of God and that He is in control of everything that happens in the world.
“The delivery of the baby today, in this town and this area (Kutaworo) is a big blessing to us Muslims. This actually goes to show that Allah is in control of what happens to any one and in the whole world.”
Also, Alhaji Mutairi Salau, who claimed the mother of the baby, Adijat, is a friend to his wife, described the birth of the baby as miraculous.
Salau said it was only God that can exhibit such power as to cause a woman to deliver a child with a praying rosary.
He said: “We have never witnessed such kind of miracle before in this town, but we thanked Allah for what He has done. In fact what happened is a miracle and we are very happy about it.”
The mysterious baby was later taken to the palace of the Etsu Nupe where they were received and blessed by the traditional ruler, Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar.
Confirming the delivery, the Emirate secretary, Alhaji Abdulmalik, said the child was brought to the palace by the parents and she was prayed for by the royal father and afterward left for home.
