One person was confirmed dead in an accident involving a Green Mazda 323 car and a Mercedes Benz truck in Iju area on the Sango/Idiroko road in Ogun on Thursday.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi stated that the accident which happened around 8:00 a.m. was caused by speeding and wrongful overtaking by the Mazda bus.
He said: “The Mazda car with no registration number, in an attempt to overtake the vehicle in its front, ran into the oncoming Mercedes Benz truck with registration number SMK 249 XE, from the other direction.
“The driver of the Mazda car died in the process, while the truck driver was unhurt.’’
The TRACE spokesman said that the body of the deceased had been given to his family, while the accidented vehicles had been taken to the Onipanu Divisional Police Station at Iju.
