APC still playing opposition politics – PDP BOT member

As the Peoples Democratic Party prepares for local government election in Niger State, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Engr. Abdulkadir Kure, on Saturday said the All Progressives Congress remains unaware it is the party in power in the country.

Kure, a former governor of Niger State, said the APC has been going about its activities as an opposition political party.

He made the remarks on Saturday at the Niger State secretariat of the PDP where flags were presented to the 25 candidates of the party for the November 7 local government election.

Kure said Nigerians are yet to see the change promised by the APC almost five months into the life of the administration at both the federal and state levels.

The former Governor argued that now that the APC is in government, it is supposed to change its slogan of “Change” and adopt another slogan to suit the position the party has found itself.

According to him: “I believe the change they are now clamouring for is for the PDP to take over from them since they have not performed to the expectations of Nigerians.”

Kure therefore asked members of the PDP in Niger State to work towards getting “real change” for the state in the forthcoming local government election.

He said: “Everyone should team up and ensure that we win all the council seats and councillorship positions in the election.

“I will give my maximum support to enable PDP records victory at the polls.”

The National Youth Leader of the PDP, Mohammadu Maibasira, in his remarks was happy that there were many youths in the list of chairmanship and councillorship candidates.

Maibasira said the PDP has always carried the youth along in all its activities.

Ambassador Jibril Wali, another PDP BOT member, urged all party members to shun acts of hooliganism and remain law abiding even in the face of provocation.

Also the former state Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Abdulrahaman Enagi, in an address said the people of Niger State have now tasted the PDP and the APC and are sure that the PDP is a better party.

Enagi said as such, they would vote for the party in the local government election.

The 25 local government chairmanship candidates were accompanied to the event by leaders of the party in their local government areas.
