Some chieftains and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress on Monday staged a protest in Abuja to counter that of the Peoples Democratic Party over the sacking of Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo State by the Supreme Court.
The protest came minutes after that of Ihedioha’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
The members of the PDP had gone to the Supreme Court, which declared the APC’s candidate, Hope Uzodinma, as winner of the election.
The APC chieftains and members gathered at the Unity Fountain and proceeded to the Federal Secretariat during the protest.
The protesters were led by Iliya Adama.
The protest was against last week’s Supreme Court judgment that unseated Ihedioha of the PDP as the governor of Imo State.
In Ihedioha’s place, the Supreme Court asked for Uzodinma to be sworn-in as the governor of the state.
It said Uzodinma was the validly elected governor of the state, asking the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue him a Certificate of Return.
