Former spokesperson of Afenifere and Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has called for the provision of adequate security during the Independent National Electoral Commission Continuous Voter Registration exercise for Osun and Ekiti State governorship elections.
Adeyeye, who was addressing PDP members and supporters at his Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement office in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress planned to import mercenary from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kwara and Ondo States to register in Ekiti and Osun States during the exercise.
The governorship aspirant also called for vigilance among PDP members and supporters, saying: “We all know ourselves.
“If you see any strange face coming to register in your community, alert security agents.
“Those in government in Ekiti know that they have been rejected by Ekiti people.
“They know that the teachers, local council workers, civil servants, students, okada riders, drivers, traders, farmers, pensioners, etc in Ekiti State won’t vote for them.
“They are planning to bring in people from other States to come and register during the
Continuous Voter Registration, but they will fail.
“We are therefore calling for the provision of adequate security during the registration exercise.”
Also speaking during the meeting, former state Woman Leader of the PDP, Dupe Adeyemi, urged women in the party to mobilise their fellow women for the registration exercise.
Former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Sola Ajigbolamu, reiterated the support of members of the state House of Assembly (2003-2007) for Adeyeye’s gubernatorial ambition.
Ajigbolamu’s position was backed by former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Olalekan Osasona, Fadare Amogunniyi, Segun Ola, Sule Longe, Leo Falade and Oluyemi Olusegun Olatunji, who were at the meeting.
Also, one of the two PDP members in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Oyedele Samuel Ajibola, said he remained committed to the governorship ambition of Prince Adeyeye, adding: “They called me in Abuja and I told them clearly that if PDP must win the June 21 election, Adeyeye is the candidate that we need.”
