For failing to beat their Zambian counterparts, the Super Eagles might have lost a whooping sum of $100,000 largesse from Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
In an effort to motivate the team, Amaechi, prior to the kick off of the match, promised a personal reward of $100,000 to the Eagles if they beat the defending champions.
Nigeria battled Zambia to a 1-1 draw in their second match in Nelspruit, South Africa on Friday.
The sports-loving Amaechi flew into Nelspruit along his wife in time for the big kick-off at 4pm local time.
Amaechi has rewarded his government-financed football clubs, Sharks and Dolphins, for recent triumphs with cash and cars.
