Super Eagles’ one cap striker, Shola Ameobi, is on the verge of quitting Newcastle of England as several United Arab Emirate clubs are pushing to land the 31-year old forward.
Competent source informed that there are two clubs from the UAE Arabian Gulf League looking at securing the services of Ameobi, who appears to be one of a number of players set to leave United since the arrival of Joe Kinnear as Director of Football last month.
Of the two mentioned, Al-Jazira are the more prestigious, while Al-Wahda have also seen their fair share of success in recent years.
As well as these possible destinations, there is also speculation that the forward would stay closer to home, with the likes of Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough all being mentioned in the press of late.
The signing of Darren Bent, which looks set to happen if recent press reports are to be believed, and also the chase of Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, also throws Ameobi’s future at The Magpies into doubt.
