The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, has challenged women in the country to take up prayers for moral and spiritual rebirth and transformation of the citizens of the country.
Akinjide, who made the call on Friday in Ibadan, Oyo State at the National Convention of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, decried a situation where human life had been reduced to nothing and no longer valued.
The minister, who was represented by Mrs. Dupe Akindeko, noted that the recent killing of four students in Aluu in Rivers State and 24 people in Kaduna, were fuelled by the loss of social moral values.
Akinjide said: “Nigerian women and WOWICAN should rise to the challenge of the lost social moral values, which has reduced human life to nothing characterised by killings such as the recent murder of 24 people in Kaduna State, the murder of four students in ALUU, Rivers State, and several men, women and children killed through bombing of churches, mosques, schools, among others.
“We must arise and pray for moral and spiritual rebirth and transformation of citizens of this country, Nigeria, where human life is respected as the highest form of God’s creation. WOWICAN should rise to the challenge of intercession so that the glory of God that has been lost in good governance, our socio-political and economic system can be restored again.”
The minister noted that God had always used an individual or group of people as instrument to fulfill specific assignments to achieve divine purpose for His people, and therefore canvassed collective intercession by the people for Nigeria.
“As Esther was called to play the role of stopping genocidal plan against the Jews, I see God using WOWICAN to stand in the gap of intercession for our Leaders in positions of authority such as the executive, the legislature, the judiciary and the nation as a whole, to restore peace and stability in our country, Nigeria,” she added.
