The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has said the Red Chamber will reply officially to the letter sent to it by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Saraki read the letter during plenary on Wednesday.
In his reaction after plenary, Saraki said the Senate would respond to Obasanjo officially.
Speaking through his media aide, Yusuf Olaniyonu, Saraki said the former president would hear from them in writing also.
Olaniyonu said: “Saraki has acknowledged the receipt of the letter.
“He will communicate his reply to the former President in a formal manner.”
In the letter, Obasanjo had accused the lawmakers, including their House of Representatives counterparts, of acting with impunity, especially in the areas of their allowances.
He said despite having fixed allowances, the lawmakers had without recourse to the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission introduced some other allowances for themselves.
The full letter is published elsewhere on this news website.
