Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has expressed satisfaction with the contractors handling the Theme Park of the Tropicana Entertainment Centre in Uyo, saying the project would be completed in December this year.
Akpabio, who stated this on Friday after an inspection tour of the park, commended the space of work done, noting that soon the contractors would commence landscaping of the project.
The governor, who was conducted round the project by the Director of Megastar Construction Company, Mr. Gian Battista Gualinotti, and the Project Lead of Silverbird Galleria, Arc. Jerry Akpan, inspected lazy river, kiddies ride, body’s ride, swimming pool, convoy train, roller coaster of the project.
Answering questions from Government House correspondents after inspection of the project, Akpabio said: ”I am very hopeful that if space of work is maintained and bearing too much rainfall, we will see the completion by the end of this year.
“And then, we can concentrate on the landscaping and others.
“The project will be ready for use by December 2013.
“That’s my hope and we’re going to work with the construction companies – Megastar Construction Company and Silverbird Galleria.
“Let’s see how we can speed up and expedite action so that it would ready for use by our children.”
He acknowledged the skills and management capabilities of the contractors in working according to international specification, observing: “I will do my own part and do hope the construction companies would do their part together with their management….
“The project is becoming a reality.”
On the issue of problem delaying the completion of the project on schedule, Akpabio stated: “In case there is any problem, the problem can only be time of delivery not that the project won’t be delivered.
“From what you see, they have the skills and management capabilities.
”You know Silverbird has been into entertainment and leisure, so they know what they are doing.
“Megastar Construction Company is a renowned construction firm.
“I believe strongly that nothing would be too difficult for them.
“If you have a strong company working and it has a difficult situation or external consultant, then look for external skill for it.
“The company knows what to do.
”From what I have seen here, this is the exact thing we’re seeing outside.
“But the difference is that we have spaced the rights in such a way that they are not choked together.
“Outside this country, they have a volume of space.
“So, they choke most of their rights in almost the same place.
“We should allow our kids to move around from one right to another, from one direction to another because we still have a lot of space in Africa.
“I am satisfied with the explanation of not choking the rights together to ensure there is no accident in any of the location.”
