The wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, on Saturday donated relief materials to 500 Internally Displaced Persons in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to enable them observe the ongoing Muslim Ramadan Fast with ease.
Buhari was represented by the wife of the Borno State Governor, Hajiya Nana Shettima, who is also the Chairperson of the Distribution of Relief Materials Committee.
Buhari said the gesture was to assist IDPs taking refuge in host communities.
She said: “It is very heart warming that the committee is reaching out to victims affected by the Boko Haram insurgency across the state.
“We have also assisted victims of the insurgency in various hospitals and healthcare centres across the state, to ease their hardship.”
Buhari therefore called on wealthy individuals to assist the less privileged in the society.
