Ahmed approves N127m to augment council workers’ salaries

Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed of Kwara State on Monday approved N127 million as augmentation for the 16 local government areas to enable them pay workers June salaries.
The Chairman of the State Joint Account Allocation Committee, who is also the Commissioner for Finance in the state, Alhaji Demola Banu, said this after the JAAC meeting in Ilorin.
Banu said that the money released by the state government would also assist the council areas to meet other financial commitments.
Banu said that N923.9 million was shared among the 16 council areas for the month of June.
The sum, according to the commissioner, was higher than the N771.9 million shared in May.
He said the state government would continue to ensure prompt payment of workers salaries as well as meet other financial obligations in the state.
Banu said that the dwindling shortfall from Federation Account would not prevent the government from executing developmental projects in the state.
He said the state government has placed high premium on welfare of the people.
Banu said the statutory allocation for June was N213 billion, while the net statutory allocation was N525.1 million.
