Again, DPR ‎seals two NNPC filling stations in Niger

The Department Petroleum Resources in Niger State has sealed two Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation-affiliated stations in Minna over various discrepancies.
This is coming barely a month after it sealed the NNPC Station at Eastern bypass‎.
The DPR State Controller, Engineer Abdullahi Isah Jankara, during a surveillance to various filling stations in the state capital and environs, compelled defaulters to sell at government approved price.
The two NNPC affiliates filling stations sealed on Saturday and Sunday by the DPR are NNPC, Shango along Minna/Suleja Road, and NNPC, Maitumbi along Minna/Gwada Road, both within Minna metropolis.
Jankara, who ordered the closure of the NNPC mega affiliate in Shango for using only one pump out of the 18 pumps in the station to sell the product to the public, described it as a plot to hoard the product and sabotage the efforts of the Department in the state.
Jankara said the station will remain sealed until sixof the pumps are functional, adding that the attitude of the station did not only amount to sabotage but a deliberate attempt to inflict suffering on the public who are made to remain on queue for several hours before getting the product.
He however gave the station owner 48 hours within which to repair the said broken down pumps or be prepared to give the products to the public free and be ready to pay a fine.
Jankara further said the mega NNPC affiliate in Maitumbi along Minna/Gwada Road was sealed off for selling the product in the night and at N100 per litre to black market operators.
He said the station will remain sealed until the operator of the station pays N400,000 fine to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
This will be at N100,000 for each of the four pumps in the station.
Jankara pointed out that the Department will not relent on clamping down on all stations involved in illegal dealings until sanity is restored in the system, noting that over 150 stations were visited within last week and about eight marketers were apprehended over diversion in which the penalty is N200 per litre.
