The Management of Leadership and Events Limited, publishers of African Leadership magazine, Prime Lawmakers and African Energy and Infrastructure magazine, have announced the appointment of Sam Hart as Group Editor.
In that capacity, Hart will be responsible for the editorial content and general output of the three monthly magazines published by the group.
A statement by Dr. Ken Giami, CEO of Leadership and Events Limited and Group Editor-in-Chief, said Hart possesses the experience, competence and outlook the company requires at this stage in its evolution and that he has what it takes to drive the new vision of the company.
Hart, holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree, comes to African Leadership with 12 years experience garnered in political and media circles in Abuja and Umuahia, Abia State.
From 2000 to 2002, he worked as Advert Manager/Editorial Page Editor at Legislative Platform, covering the National Assembly.
He moved to Abia State in 2003 and for four years, he was a Media Aide in the Office of the Governor of Abia State.
In 2007, Governor T.A. Orji of Abia State appointed him Special Assistant/Speechwriter, a task he carried out for 40 months.
In 2008, he was appointed the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State.
In 2010, he was appointed Director of Protocol, Government House, Umuahia, a position he held until May 29, 2011.
Hart served as Member/Secretary of over 20 standing and ad-hoc committees that planned numerous events in Abia State from 2007 to 2011, among which were four presidential visits, four vice presidential visits and four anniversaries.
Hart, who speaks Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba fluently, has travelled extensively locally and internationally, having been to twelve countries and every state in Nigeria several times.
He has acquired various professional certifications.
He is an Oracle (10g) Certified Database Administrator/Professional and has a Certificate from the New York Mentoring Institute.
He has attended various leadership and self-development training programmes at the Lagos Business School and other such institutions.
Hart is happily married with children.
