The Minister of State for Works, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, has described as wishful thinking the claim by the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, that his party, the All Progressives Congress, had discovered how the Independent National Electoral Commission rigged the June 21 governorship election in the state.
Adeyeye, who said the June 21 election was a clear rejection of Fayemi and his anti-masses government, added: “Ekiti people rejected Fayemi on June 21 and if the election is conducted 20 times, Fayemi will be rejected over and over again.”
Speaking through the Director General of the Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, the minister said Fayemi and his APC people must still be living in the illusion of the existence of the Salamic era where judgments were known in advance and programmes and souvenirs for swearing-in ceremonies were produced two weeks before judgment day.
Fayemi had said while featuring on the Yoruba edition of the monthly progamme: “Gomina S’alaye,” in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend: “I want to say that we have discovered some fraud in the last election.
“But it is not yet a matter for public consumption.
“This discovery certainly us the hope that our party would win Osun election.”
Reacting, Adeyeye said: “Something must be wrong with the way these people in the APC think.
“A sitting governor loses an election so woefully that he could not win up to 20 out of the 177 wards in Ekiti State and he is still talking about rigging?”
He advised Fayemi to live up to his promise of taking up lecturing job at the state-owned university, the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, since he appears desperate to serve Ekiti State people.
While accusing Fayemi of plotting to make the state ungovernable for the incoming Governor, Ayodele Fayose, Adeyeye said the state government was employing thousands of people into the Civil Service so as to cause crises.
He however said that the plot will fail, adding: “God, who made Fayose’s return as Ekiti governor possible will remove all the landmines being set by the Fayemi-led government.”
