Chris Ezem, the Secretary to the State Government, says Abia government is committed to encouraging and supporting teachers to acquire effective teaching skills to improve the standard of education in Abia.
Ezem made this known during the inauguration of the Continuing Teachers’ Training Board in Umuahia.
According to him, education is at the forefront of the present administration’s development plan in the state because of the important role it will play in facilitating socio-economic growth.
Ezem said that state government was poised to ensure that there would be increased access to good quality education, adding that it would add value to the system.
“Abia government is not leaving any stone unturned in building the education sector.”
He urged the board to liaise with Ministry of Education to get the template for tea.
Ezem also advised members of the board to draw up policy line on how to run effective training programmes, and for them to discharge their responsibilities religiously.
Responding, Ngozi Nwogwugwu, the Chairman of the Board, thanked the state government for the opportunity to serve the people of Abia.
Nwogwugwu said that the Board would ensure that teachers in Abia have access to the best training platform that would enable them improve their teaching skills.
Members of the board include, Vivian Uadiala, Nwazue Ukaegbu, Chinyere Okeke and Ugochukwu Ejike.
