The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, has so far received 10 petitions from some candidates who contested in the March 28 National Assembly elections in the state.
Copies of the different petitions, which were pasted on the tribunal’s notice board, showed that the petitions were filed against the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Senate and House of Representatives.
The petitions for the House of Representatives were filed by Dr. Ejike Oji of the All Progressives Grand Alliance against Nkeiru Onyejeocha of the PDP and 30 others for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi.
Others were Chief Nnamdi Oji (APGA) against Chief Nkole Ndukwe (PDP) and 16 others for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency; Chief Kennedy Adiele (APGA) against Chief Uzoma Abonta (PDP) and two others for Ukwa East/Ukwa West.
Chief Chinenye Ike (APGA) also filed a petition against Chief Darlington Nwokocha (PDP) and 10 others for Isialangwa North and Isialangwa South Federal Constituency.
Petitions for the Senate were filed by Chief David Onuoha (APGA) against Chief Mao Ohuabunwa (PDP) and 13 others for Abia North; Chief Ahamdi Nweke (APGA) against Governor Theodore Orji (PDP) and INEC for Abia Central, and Chief Chris Nkwonta (APGA) against Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP) and two others for Abia South.
The rest came from Dr. Orji Kalu (Progressives Peoples Alliance) against Chief Mao Ohuabunwa and eight others for Abia North and Chief Iheanacho Obioma (All Progressives Congress) against Governor Theodore Orji (PDP) and four others for Abia Central.
An official of the tribunal told the News Agency of Nigeria in Umuahia that the respondents had seven days to file their memorandum of appearance and 14 days to file their reply.
