Governor’s CPS, DSS operatives in bloody fight

There was drama on Tuesday evening at the Niger State Government House in Minna as operatives of the Department of State Services engaged in a fight with Dr. Ibraheem Dooba, the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bello.
The brawl occurred at about 6pm when the CPS, who was told to bring a guest by the Deputy Governor, was allegedly shoved by an operative of the DSS.
Dooba said he went to the office of the Deputy Governor, Ahmad Ketso after his Protocol Officer told him the Deputy Governor wanted to see him.
Shouting: “I have resigned, I have resigned, I didn’t do anything and I am still surprised at what has happened,” Dooba explained further what transpired: “Some people came to look for the Deputy governor and he had instructed me to go bring them into the Government House.
“When we got to the Deputy Governor’s office, one those SSS officers stopped me from going in and I tried to explain, but he pushed me.
“That was how the manhandling started.”
It was learnt it took the intervention of Governor Bello’s Aide-De-Camp, Isa Murtala Raji, for Dooba to be whisked out from the mass attack by the men in suit.
Eyewitnesses however told The Eagle Online that the CPS wanted to beat protocol and when apprehended, he slapped the young SSS officer attached to the deputy governor’s office.
A source said: “The CPS slapped the security man two times and told him to go and tell the deputy governor that I am not coming.
“It was after he slapped the young officer and was leaving that the others accosted him and the brawl ensued.
“He kept shouting: ‘I have resigned, I left very important jobs I was doing to come and work here and these things are happening to me.'”
The attack on Dooba was said to have continued after he was tricked and lured that Bello’s Chief Security Officer, Ibrahim Gambari, wanted to see him.
At this time, Dooba had no clue that he was being escorted into another bout.
There was a massive attack on him by five security men.
His clothes were torn, with his ear and legs bleeding.
