A rush was recorded Tuesday at the Peoples Democratic Party secretariat in Jos, Plateau State as over 36 aspirants, including the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titus Alams, picked nomination forms for various elective positions.
The state party secretariat was agog as politicians seeking elective positions thronged the party office with their supporters to declare their intentions in areas of interest as well pick forms to beat the October 30, 2014 deadline given by the PDP national secretariat to so do.
Eleven members of the House of Assembly were among those that picked the PDP nomination forms to return to the House or head to the House of Representatives.
The Eagle Online gathered that the 11 House of Assembly members who picked the nomination forms are loyalists of Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State.
Those who pick the nomination forms for the House of Representatives included Alams; Hon. Dahibu Dauda, the member representing Lamba Wakat; the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap of Langtang South; a former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Johnbull Shekarau Shendam; Hon. Ado Adere of Irigwe/Rukuba; Hon Aminu Jonathan; and Hon. Timothy Golu.
Those that picked forms for the state House of Assembly included Hon. Zainab Dogo, Qua’anpan South; Hon. Ponmak Rimdap, Langtang Central; Hon, Isaac Arin Azi; and Alhaji Awwalu Haruna, Jos North.
The party premises was however not devoid of political thugs who appeared in their usual commando style.
They had a feel day harassing some of the aspirants for money.
Alams snubbed journalists for his comments.
Jonathan told reporters that he is vying for the seat the second time to contribute for the development of the people.
He said in the last four years, he had sunk over 1,000 bore holes across his constituency, as well as built seven classrooms as part of his constituency projects.
Another aspirant, Hon. Zainab Dogo, also said she is vying for the seat to contribute her quota to national development for the good people of Qua’anpan South in the Plateau State House of Assembly.
