Plateau United FC of Jos on Sunday defeated visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure 1-0 in Match Day 4 of the Nigeria Premier League 2023/2024 season.
Plateau United was the better side in the opening 30 minutes, creating so many chances but could not convert them.
The Jos-based club was unable to break down the determined and resolute defence of the visitors.
The goal that made the difference eventually came in the 31st minute of the match through a well taken free kick by Albert Hilary.
The host team dominated proceedings in the second half and again created several chances, but were unable to score.
Sunshine Stars were, however, the better side in the closing stages of the encounter, but their efforts were futile as they were unable to breach the solid Plateau United defence line.
Plateau United Technical Adviser, Mbwas Mangut, in his post-match interview, described Sunshine Stars as a difficult side to meet.
Mangut said that the visitors were organised and difficult to break down.
The Technical Adviser commended his boys for making good use of the set piece that made the difference.
He, however, said that they needed to work on the frontline of his side to enable them to score more goals going forward.
