A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adakole Ijogi, has revealed that the Middle Belt Forum has directed the people of the area to vote for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
The PDP chieftain said this when he spoke on a Channels Television programme: “The 2023 Verdict,” on Wednesday.
Ijogi said following the declaration of the MBF, which spoke in conjunction with pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere; apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo; and Pan-Niger Delta Forum, he will vote for the former two-term Anambra State governor on February 25.
He said he doubted the chances of the PDP presidential candidate in the election, Atiku Abubakar.
He said: “The leadership of the Middle Belt Forum has resolved that for the presidential election, it is not about party this time around, it’s about candidate.
“So, the Middle Belt people have been directed to vote for former governor, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, for only the presidential election.
“Then in other elections, they have been advised to vote for the PDP.
“So, we will be voting for Obi.”
The Middle Belt is made up Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States among others.
