The National Universities Commission has given provisional approval to the newly established State University, Kafin-Hausa in Jigawa State to admit its pioneer students.
Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, the Vice Chancellor of the university, made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed-Sani, in Gumel on Friday.
Ribadu said NUC had approved 15 degree courses for the new university and that the necessary structures had been put in place for the commencement of the university this year.
He said that he was in the emir’s palace to seek his support for the development of the university.
In his remarks, Muhammed-Sani enjoined youths to embrace university education because it was vital for their advancement in life.
The emir promised to support the university in its quest to train the young ones for the progress of the state.
