The Chief Imam of Busu, Lavun Local Government Area of Niger, Sheikh Usman-Liman, has admonished Muslims to fear Allah in all their deeds during the holy month of Ramadan and beyond.
The chief Imam made the call Wednesday when he declared open RamadanTafsir and Iftar (breaking of fast) organised by Alhaji Mohammed Baba-Busu, Jekada Labarin Nupe, at the mosque in Bida.
He said if Muslim faithful embrace the noble teachings of the Holy Scripture (Qur’an), and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) the society would be a better place.
Usman-Liman said only the fear of God almighty and constant supplications to Him by all Muslim faithful would bring an end to hardship and other misfortunes in the country.
“We should always remember that everyone shall return to the almighty God and we shall all give account for our deeds, either good or bad on the day of reckoning.
“It is important that we ensure fairness and equity with one another in the most modest manner,” he said.
Similarly, Malam Abdulrahaman Muhammad, during his Tafsir at the Mosque appealed to philanthropists to give succour to the needy in the holy month of Ramadan.
Mohammed said such succour was necessary to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged, adding that the holy month of Ramadan is a period of showing love, kindness and good will.
“The Ramadan period is not only for prayer and fasting, but a season to give alms to the needy and the less privileged in the society in order to improve on their living standard.
“Every Muslim is aware that Ramadan is a period to pray, fast and to seek for Allah’s forgiveness if one has done wrong but more is associated to it.
“This is a season to show remorse, a time to do charity work and auspicious time to extend hands of friendship to the less privileged in the society,” he said.
The convener of the Tafsir, Alhaji Mohammed Baba-Busu, Jekada Labarin Nupe, said that Ramadan was an auspicious time to extend support and brotherliness to fellow Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
Baba-Busu noted that Almighty Allah bestowed wealth on some individuals while others were less privileged, not because He preferred any individual but by His mercy, grace and wisdom.
“It is wise and proper we share amongst the less privileged the little God has given to us and not to hoard, amass or use it as a status symbol.
“I like to share my last kobo with those who don’t have, because we will leave whatever we acquire in this world and give account of our deeds to Almighty Allah on the last day.
“All that is required to bury the dead does not cost more than N2000, why then do some live a corrupt life here on earth. The ego and unnecessary amassing of wealth is vanity,” said the convener.
