The identity of the man who drive the Bus Rapid Transit bus a 21-year-old fashion designer, Oluwabamise Ayanwola, boarded in Lekki area of Lagos State before disappearing has been unveiled.
This was also as the video Ayanwola did while inside the bus on February 26, 2022 been released by her friend.
So also has the Lagos State Police Command said a guarantor of the driver, who has not been seen since the incident, has been arrested alongside some other unnamed persons and are been questioned.
The case, according to the Command, is now being handled by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
The mother of the victim, Comfort Ayanwola, in a video said she had located the specific bus inside the parking lot of the firm running the service.
According to available information, the driver has been identified as Nice Omininikoron.
The identity card of Omininikoron has also been shared online.
Ayanwola while on the bus and sensing danger reportedly contacted one of her colleagues at work, Felicia Omolara, about the development.
She said instead of the normal practice of the driver picking up more commuters, he was just driving her and a few other suspicious persons towards the Third Mainland Bridge.
Omolara, however, noted that when her friend no longer responded to her chats on WhatsApp, she called her phone number, adding that when she picked the call, a man was heard arguing with Bamise.
She said that was the last time she heard from her.
The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the arrest of some suspects, including the guarantor of the fleeing driver, said further updates would be communicated to the public.
Ajisebutu said: “The case has been transferred to the SCIID, Panti, Yaba on the directives of the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi.
“We are doing everything humanly possible to locate the whereabouts of the lady.
“The case is currently under investigation and I am aware that the guarantor of the driver is in our custody and has been assisting our investigation.
“When we are investigating criminal cases of this nature, from time to time, we give updates.
“We will let you know if there is any update.”
