Only God’ll determine my successor – Akpabio

Ahead of the 2015 gubernatorial election in Akwa Ibom State, the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has said that it is only God who would determine his successor at the Hilltop Mansion.
Chief Akpabio stated this when he addressed the people of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of the state during a Civic > Reception in his honour, after he inaugurated some projects executed in the area by his administration.
At the event, which took place at the Council Secretariat, Oko Ita, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem, said: “Beyond human imagination, whoever pleases God will be the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State.”
To this end, he called on the people to go into prayer so that the same God, who visited Akwa Ibom State in 2007, that has resulted in the changed of fortunes for the state, will also give it another leader whowould continue with the Uncommon Transformation programme of his administration.
Enoidem said: “Governor Akpabio has given a sense of dignity, respect and responsibility to Akwa Ibom people, hence we need the sustenance and sustainability of this culture and a man, who is competent and has the capacity to continue with the current tempo of development of the state.”
According to him, Chief Akpabio has raised the profile of Akwa Ibom State through his unprecedented performance, especially in the provision of free and compulsory education and basic infrastructure across the state.
He said: “If there’s any government in the history of Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State, that has been so sensitive to the plights of the people and passionate about provision of infrastructure, it is the government of Chief Godswill Akpabio.”
At the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom, Ikot Udom, the governor’s representative, who was accompanied by some members of the State Executive Council, including a native of the area and Commissioner for Finance, Bassey Akpan, acknowledged the massive support of the people to the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
The support of Ibiono Ibom people, he mentioned, has in turn yielded great dividends for the area, in terms of infrastructural development, appointments and other unquantifiable benefits, as has been done in other parts of the state.
The projects inaugurated by the governor were two four-classroom blocks and a Hall/Office block at Presbyterian Primary School, Nsan; a two-classroom block, a three-classroom block, and a four-classroom block, at PCN Primary School, Edem Urua/Itu Andem; two four-classroom blocks, a six-classroom block, and an Assembly Hall at Community Secondary School, Ibiaku Ibiono; a four-classroom block, a three-classroom block and an Assembly Hall at St Joseph’s Primary School, Afaha Nsai.
Others were a three-classroom block, a five-classroom block, and two three-classroom blocks at St Theresa’s Primary School, Use Abat; and one Civic Centre each at Ididep Usuk and Ikot Eshiet, Utit Obio.
