A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to guard against factions in the party.
Baraje, an ally of the embattled President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, gave the advice when he spoke with newsmen in llorin, the Kwara State capital, on Sunday.
He opined that this would save the party from the hands of a few individuals who thought that they were more important than every other member of the party.
The APC chieftain said those factors that led to the factions and collapse of the Peoples Democratic Party were gradually creeping into the APC.
He cautioned that impunity, lawlessness and divisive tendencies, which led to the downfall of the PDP, now reign supreme in the APC.
Baraje advised Buhari “to start playing politics so that the APC would not suffer the fate PDP’s suffered”.
The APC chieftain expressed reservation over the ways and manners the ruling party was being run and attributed APC’s loss in most rerun polls to the management of the party.
He acknowledged that there were many distractions because a lot of things went wrong before APC came in as the ruling party.
“I believe President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has brighter idea on how to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria,” he remarked.
