No fewer than 50 persons are feared dead in two deadly attacks by Boko Haram on Monday in Borno and Adamawa States.
The first, in the early hours of the day, followed the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device that was planted in a mosque in Maiduguri, the Adamawa State capital.
The second was in Madagali, a major town in Adamawa State, where two female suicide bombers killed no fewer than 30 persons.
The attack on the mosque in Maiduguri left over 20 persons dead.
Available information has it that two female suicide bombers attacked a busy motor park in Madagali.
The Brigade Commander of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Mubi, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu, confirmed that two female suicide bombers on Monday detonated Improvised Explosive Device in Madagali.
Ezugwu said: “Two female suicide bombers struck at a motor park in Madagali and detonated their devices and we lost some beloved country men.”
Ezugwu, who did not disclose the number of casualties, however, stated that the situation had been brought under control and that security had been beefed up in the town.
He urged the people to vigilant and security conscious.
Some eyewitnesses at the scene told the News Agency of Nigeria that the two female suicide bombers detonated their IEDs at the motor park around 9am.
In Maiduguri, the bomb was reportedly planted in a mosque.
Those who died were said to be people who hang out around the mosque during the day.
They were said to have seen the parcel containing the IED and were discussing the development when it was detonated.
The development in Maiduguri came after a night of fierce battle between the Boko Haram terrorists and soldiers on Sunday.
