Prominent Nigerians from different background, including Prof Pat Utomi, Attahiru Jega, Olisa Agbakoba, Buba Galadima, among others have joined forces to float an a new mega party – Third Force Movement.
The incoming party is coming to rescue the country from pervasive misrule and unprecedented impunity in politics.
The Convener of the National Consultative Front, NCFront, the new party parent’s body, Olawale Okunniyi, described the NCFront as a movement of Leaders of Conscience birthed to “rescue the country from pervasive misrule and unprecedented impunity in politics, which has cast gloom on the future of Nigeria”.
Okunniyi, while explaining the reason why the party is yet to adopt any political party stated contrary to a false claim in some quarters that the movement has adopted a particular party, said it was due to pressure on the leadership of the movement to absorb and accommodate more interested political movements, stakeholders and allies into the fold of the alternative Mega structure.
A statement signed by the South west Chairman and Secretary, Lanre Adenuga and Lanre Fadahunsi Southwest respectively, quoted the Convener as commending the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Movement for giving a huge impetus to the Third Force initiative to rescue Nigeria and therefore assured that leaders of the Third Force Movement shall be part of political conference organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress slated to hold in Abuja on 2nd of March, 2022.
Okunniyi reassured that the country would witness the birth of the much awaited people’s rescue movement soon as plans have been perfected to launch the Mega Party by the first week of March this year, adding that the political parties being considered for adoption and platform for fusion of all other partners and stakeholders towards the formation of the Mega Party are People’s Redemption Party (PRP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), National Rescue Movement (NRM) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The Convener implored leaders and delegates from the six states of Southwest in attendance to try to mobilize more youths and women into the fold saying that the movement is about the youths and the vulnerable, restating that the Third Force in Nigeria is the government in waiting as Nigerians are tired of the self serving rule of the present dominant parties in power, urging all Nigerians to support the ballot revolution of the Third Force in 2023.
According to the statement, in formalizing the movement, it elected Lanre Adenuga from Lagos State was elected as Chairman, Engr Jagun Abiodun from Ogun State was elected as Vice Chairman, while Hon Lanre Fadahunsi from Osun State emerged as the Secretary and Olusola Ayodele from Oyo State became the Treasurer.
Others elected by the zonal congress include Barr Thompson Akinyemi, Esq from Ondo as Publicity Secretary while Wasiu Olanrewaju from Osun State was voted as Youth Leader and Prince Adesina Bashorun from Ogun State was endorsed as Ex Officio Zonal Leader and Barr Ademola Okeya, Esq from Ekiti became the Legal Adviser of the Zone.
The new zonal leadership was subsequently inaugurated by the Head of National Secretariat of the Third Force Movement, Sir Okunniyi, who again in his closing remarks urged the new zonal officers of the NCFront to see their emergence as a call to duty with a view to making sacrifices in mobilising the people of Southwest to build formidable structures in the six states in the zone ahead of the Third Force Mega Party slated for launching on March 8, 2022 in Abuja
Adenuga in his acceptance speech, pledged on behalf other elected officers, Zonal Assembly of their loyalty to the values, principles and agenda of the third force movement to rescue Nigeria from misrule and self inflicted poverty and misery come 2023.
NCFront is led by a group of Leaders of Conscience, including: Prof Utomi, Prof Jega, Dr Agbakoba SAN, Hon Dr Usman Bugaje, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, Engr Galadima, among others.
