No fewer than 20 individuals and 10 organisations drawn from all
sectors of the economy will be conferred with the National
Productivity Order of Merit Award.
Chief Emeka Wogu, the Minister of Labour and Productivity, made this
known at a news conference in Abuja on Monday.
Wogu said that the companies and individuals would receive the award
during the 2013 National Productivity Day on August 15.
He said the awardees, drawn from all sectors of economy, were selected
after a thorough screening exercise, adding that President Goodluck
Jonathan would confer the award.
The minister said the occasion would feature made-in-Nigeria goods by
manufacturers in both small and medium-scale enterprises.
He said the activities would include a national symposium with the
theme: “Productivity and Competitiveness: Determinants for Achieving
National Transformation”.
Wogu said the Minister of National Planning Commission, Dr. Shamsudeen
Usman, would be the guest speaker, while other eminent resource
persons would present papers at the symposium.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that those for individual
awards include, Joseph Adeseluka, Ajose Kudehinbu, Chief Mao
Ohuabunwa, Ndoma Nyambi and Chief Omenihu Nwuogwugwu.
Others are Dr. Emily Mieyefa, John Nwosu, Alhaji Mohammed Bana, Chief
Charles Ogbonna, Dr. Ausbeth Nnamdi, Abiodun Aiyerin, Aminu Sharehu,
Sunday Olom, and Engineer Godwin Omene, Promise Adewusi, Chief Linus
Ojimba, George Uriesi, Maimuna Bala, Prof. Shuaibu Abdulraheem and Dr.
Aliu Ma’ Awuya.
The organisation categories are Benue State Control Agency; Be-Bless
Industries; Akwa Ibom State; Kano State Urban Planning and Development
Authority; Eagle Food Processing Industry Nigeria Limited; Anambra
State; Sahad Stores Limited, Abuja; Forestry Research Institutes of
Nigeria, Ibadan, Oyo State; Borno State Ministry of Environment; Tito
Yoghurt Company Limited, Makurdi, Benue State; Nisa Premier Hospital,
Abuja; and Sunseed Nigeria Limited, Lagos.
